Stuffit Deluxe 7.0 problems Fritz Mills reports two minor issues with the recently released Stuffit Deluxe 7.0: erasure of previous preferences and an error with the "base drop box."

"After finishing the installation, I found that the StuffIt installer had trashed many of my preferences. After some investigation, it appears that it changed all my preferences back to Mac OS X defaults. Also, when I launched Stuffit Express I got a dialog box that said, 'The currently installed 'Base Macintosh Drop Box' cannot be used with this version of Stuffit Express. Please make sure that you have installed Stuffit Express correctly.' Since I used the Easy Install option, I don't know how I could have installed it incorrectly."

EZQuest responds to DVD overheating issue EZQuest Inc. is issuing this statement to customers concerned about DVD overheating in the company's DVD recordable drives:

"There will be an appropriate firmware update.  For the time being, do not use the not yet available 4x DVD-R media with your 2x dvd-r drive.  This will cause overheating if left to spin and hang."
