Kingston Ethernet hubs glitch; AOL and AirPort; iMate and Remote Access

Kingston Ethernet hub and Gigabit Ethernet Power Macs: a conflict? William Kucharski reports that his Kingston Ethernet hub will not work with a new Gigabit Ethernet Power Mac. No other devices on the hub network are recognized by the Mac. The Kingston hub worked on an older Mac. And a different brand of hub worked on the new Mac. William informs us that he has seen other reports of this on Apple's Support Boards. AOL's advice re AirPort Robert Wright received an email from AOL with its suggestion for how to connect to AOL if you have a dial-up connection and use an AirPort Base Station: "Use the Airport modem to connect to a local Internet Service Provider (ISP) before connecting to AOL via a TCP/IP connection." [See previous coverage.] iMate linked to Remote Access freeze? Stephen Becker was getting intermittent freezes when trying to connect to his ISP (and sometimes when trying to disconnect) via Remote Access. The freezes were eliminated by removing his Griffin iMate ADB adapter. He's using a G4/450 (AGP) with OS 9.0.4 and Apple's internal modem.
