Fonts and iMovie conflict Recently, we noted an Apple TIL article (#60764) that linked a problem with iMovie to the American Heritage Dictionary fonts. We have since received several reports that other fonts may also cause this. For example, Claus Kruesken found that the Curlz MT font was the culprit on his system. Fixing freezes linked to Yamaha CD-RW drive Thomas Santee writes: "After installing a Yamaha CDRW8424SZ, my Mac started to have repeated freezes. I checked the firmware for the drive and found it was version 1.0g (which Yamaha says is for the Japanese market only). Upgrading to the latest version [1.0j] eliminated the freezes." Macintosh Explorer and online access attempts? Tony Semone writes: "The last 2 times I've used Macintosh Explorer 1.7, I've gotten an alert from DoorStop Personal Firewall of an attempt to access my Mac. The first originated from Toronto Canada and just now from Redwood City, CA. Anybody else out there having this experience?" Update: Rage Software answered our request for a reply on this matter. Essentially, they say that there is nothing in Explorer that would cause this and they suspect it is a coincidence. "Our program does not attempt to ever make a connection to the Internet unless of course you are launching a web related program from within Macintosh Explorer."
