We recently showed you how to pin your favorite Web sites to the Windows 8 Start screen. By default, the tile may use the site's favicon.ico file or just display the generic Internet Explorer icon. If you operate a Web site, that may not be good enough for you. Here's how to give your site visitors a high quality tile to pin on their Windows 8 Start screens:

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft site, http://www.buildmypinnedsite.com, then under the "See your site in Windows 8" section, enter the URL of your Web site, and click the Show me! button to see what your tile would currently look like.

Step 2: Go to the "Build your own pinned site" section and upload an image, name the tile, and select a background color. Check the live preview screen on the right to see if everything looks to be in order.

Step 3: Go to the "Get the Code!" section and download the PNG image file. After you've uploaded the image file to your Web host, copy and paste the code into the <head> tag of your site.

That's it. WordPress users can upload the PNG image file to the top level root directory and add the tile code into the header.php file.
