How to share an iCloud calendar from your iOS device

Sharing an iCloud calendar is a great way to ensure that your family is on the same schedule. Here's how to share one from your iOS device.

Sometimes when your significant other lets you know about an upcoming appointment or event, and you have every intention of entering it into your iCloud calendar. But, as we all know, the event doesn't always make it there.

To eliminate the need for everyone to take the time to create a new event in their calendar, share an iCloud calendar. By sharing the same calendar, any time an event is added, everyone who shares the calendar will get an alert of the new event.

Here's how to share an iCloud calendar using your iOS device:

  • You can either share an existing calendar or create a new one under the iCloud section. When you're ready to share, tap on the blue arrow icon next to the respective calendar.

  • You'll see a Shared With section where you can add a person to the calendar. Tapping on this option will ask you to enter an e-mail to send the share request to. You can send the invite to any type of e-mail address (Gmail, Yahoo!, Outlook, etc.), but the recipient will have to have an Apple ID/iCloud account in order to join the calendar.

  • Once someone has joined the shared calendar, he or she will be able to edit and add events to the calendar as expected. If you'd rather a particular person have only read access, you can tap on his or her name for the shared with section and turn off Allow Editing. Of course, you can also remove the person from the calendar altogether from the same screen.

Sharing an iCloud calendar from iOS is convenient, but it's not the only way. You can also share from a Mac and iCloud.com.
