Disable e-mail notifications on Google+

Tired of being swamped with notifications about your notifications? Turn them off!

There's no question that some notifications are very useful. However, on some occasions you will find that your inbox is being swamped with too much information about your social networks. For instance, if you have Google+ installed on your mobile device, not only will you receive a push notification there, but you'll also receive an e-mail telling you about the notification. And after a while, this process starts to sound too similar to the Xzibit meme that circled the Interwebs for quite some time. (Except this would read more like: "yo dawg we heard you like notifications, so we sent you a notification about your notification.")

And it's all just too much.

So here's how to turn off those Google+ e-mail alerts so you can get just one notification, or maybe none:

Step 1: Open the menu at the top right-hand corner next to your profile picture on Google+ and then click on Account.

Step 2: In the next screen that loads, click on Google+ from the menu choices on the left.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Alerts area and remove the checkmarks from the boxes next to events you do not want to be notified about via e-mail.

Note: You can also adjust the alerts that will appear on your phone in the same area, so you may want to take a moment to look over those as well.

Now you can be free from notification spam. What other services do you feel are guilty of over-sharing their notifications?
