How to add your organ donor status to Facebook Timeline

Facebook rolled out the ability to add your organ donor status to and even register as a donor directly from your Timeline today. Here's how to do it.

Mark Zuckerberg wants Facebook to save lives, so starting today you can register as an organ donor directly from your Timeline.

Here's how to add your organ donor status to your Facebook Timeline:

  1. When viewing your Timeline, click on Life Event and then the Health & Wellness listing.

  5. You can then add what state or territory you're an organ donor in, as well as the date you registered. You can also add any notes about being an organ donor to the event. Make sure to set the privacy level to something you're comfortable with before saving the event to your Timeline.

If you're not a registered organ donor, there's a link on the right side of the window that will take you to a Facebook app. The app, Donate Life America, will help you properly register as a donor based on your location.

Registering and adding your organ donor status to your Timeline may not seem like a big deal, but the fact is organ donation saves lives. By adding your donor status to your Timeline, perhaps you will help push a friend or family member to register as well. At least, that's the approach Facebook is taking.
