How to enable Reading View for Amazon Silk on the Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire 6.3 software update adds a reading view for the Silk browser that formats Web articles to look like an e-book.

by

The Kindle Fire software update to 6.3 should be rolling out to you any day now, with new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

One of the new features is a reading view, which allows you to format Web articles to look like an e-book, using Amazon's Silk Web browser. Reading view can make Web content easier to read without all the ads, graphics, and other distractions. Here's how to enable it:

  • In order for reading view to work, accelerated page loading must first be turned on in the Silk browser settings, if it isn't already.

  • When you get to a Web article you'd like to display in reading view, tap the reading glasses icon from the lower toolbar.

  • After a couple of seconds, the article will show up formatted like one of your e-books. When you're done reading, or if you just want to go back to the standard view, tap the x in the upper right-hand corner.

That's it. Now you can easily toggle between standard and reading views on the Kindle Fire. Let us know in the comments if you like the new reading view or prefer the old standard view.
