Getting started with Pix: Pixel Maker for Android
Want to create cool photos that you can save and share in their full-resolution glory? Look no further.

Cool filters, effects, and frames without the emphasis on sharing them with everyone you know is what you'll find in Pix: Pixel Maker for Android.
The app features 30 filters (which you can combine, more on that later), 24 effects, and 16 frames. If you're not sure where to start with a photo, there's even a random button to get your creative powers going. Additionally, you'll be able to save your photos in full resolution, for free. Here's how to get started:

First you'll want to take a photo or choose one from your Gallery. This example is going to work with a photo I took on the Howard Frankland Bridge connecting St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida.

Next you'll want to tap on the magic wand icon if that area of the app isn't already open for you. You can apply filters to your photo by touching the rectangular samples along the bottom of the screen. What's supercool about this part is that you can apply more than one filter. If you change your mind after applying some of these, there's a small trashcan icon under the filter names that will let you remove them and start over.

The film reel icon to the right of the filters will add special effects to your photos. Choices like Deep Sea, Pearl, Mud, and GreenWave are available. These effects cannot be layered like the filters in the first area, but each alters the photo enough on its own to not require layering. After you're done selecting an effect (or none), you can also select a frame.

This is the only part of the app that I think is lacking a bit. There are some good choices, especially the popular Rough edge, but there could be more colors and designs. However, most of the magic happens in the first two areas anyway, and you have the option to skip applying a frame.

Once you're finished adjusting the photo to your liking, it's time to save or share. Click on the plus icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen. The Save icon is the second one from the left and will give you the option of saving in the optimized or original size. Facebook and Twitter integration are built-in, but you're also able to share with other apps installed on your device by pressing More.
