Get meal plans and grocery lists on Android, iPhone

Take the work out of planning meals or creating shopping lists by using this app.

It goes without saying that food is important to our ability to function. Despite this importance, planning and preparing meals often falls on the back burner, with things like work or school taking priority. If you find yourself often forgetting to purchase key ingredients, or are feeling uninspired in your meal planning, check out Food on the Table for Android and iPhone. Here's how to get started:

Step 1: Download and install Food on the Table on your Android or iOS device.

Step 2: The app requires some basic setup to function. Get this started by pressing the Begin Setup button.

Step 3 (optional): Enter your e-mail address. You will be notified of any sales at stores you select if you decide to do this.

Step 4: Select your favorite store. You can select a specific chain of stores or search by your zip code to find nearby stores.

Step 5: Press on each meat and dish type that you're interested in. Once you've selected everything, press Finish Setup.

Step 6: Once the next screen loads, start your planning by pressing Pick Recipe.

Step 7: Browse through the meal categories by either the meat type, dish, or search for items on sale.

Step 8: Selecting a category will bring up a list of dishes you might be interested in. Press on a dish to get more information about it.

Step 9: Information about the dish you selected will be displayed on this page. You'll be treated to estimated prep/wait/cooking times, detailed instructions on preparing the meal, and sometimes a picture of the dish. If the dish sounds good, press Add to Meal Plan.

Step 10 (optional): Repeat steps 6 through 9 until you've planned all of your meals. Note that with the free version of the app you will only be allowed to plan three meals at once.

Step 11: Once you have all of your meals selected, press on the Grocery List tab. All of the items you need to prepare your meals will be listed by category for your convenience.
