How to shop only items sold by Amazon

Learn how to make sure what you're buying is actually coming from Amazon.

Avoid ordering goods from third-parties on Amazon with this crafty add-on for Chrome and Firefox.

If you're concerned about the shipping or packaging methods that other companies use, this is a great way to avoid buying from those companies. When you are looking for particular items, only the ones that Amazon has for sale will appear. Keep in mind that while Amazon does have a lot of items for sale, you may not be able to find every item you seek. Here's how to get started:

For Chrome:

Step 1: Add the Shipped and sold by Amazon extension to your browser by clicking Add to Chrome and then Install from the pop-up window that appears.

Step 2: Head over to Amazon.com--the extension will not be visible on other Web sites.

Step 3: Click on the blue Amazon-style icon that appears in right-hand side of the omnibox at the top of your browser window, it will turn green and activate the filter. Now start shopping!

For Firefox:

Step 2: If the icon appears on your toolbar, you can click it to enable the filter and start shopping for items only sold and shipped by Amazon on their Web site. If not, restart Firefox and continue on to step 3.

(Optional) Step 3: Right-click a blank space on your toolbar (near other icons like Print, or Stop) and then choose Customize.

(Optional) Step 4: Drag the icon for the Sold and shipped by Amazon add-on to a location of your choosing on the toolbar (as shown in Step 2's picture).

(Optional) Step 5: Head to Amazon.com for your online shopping and click the blue Amazon-style icon on the toolbar to activate the filter (it will turn green).

Now you will only see the items Amazon has to sell you. If Amazon comes up short, you can always disable the filter with a single click on the icon to allow third-party sellers to become visible again.
