How to use an Android device as an extra monitor
Ever wish you could have just a little more screen real estate?
Having extra monitors is always nice, but can be costly when you need a pair or more of them to complete your desktop.
This guide may offer a temporary solution to your problem if you're on a Windows PC and have a spare Android device (or one you don't mind tying up for a while).
What you'll need:
- Windows
- An Android device
- Wi-Fi connection
Begin by purchasing and downloading ScreenSlider from the Android market. Once that's complete, request a download link for the ScreenSlider desktop client by providing a valid e-mail address.

Step 1: Run the ScreenSlider app on your Android device. You'll be prompted to enter a name for the device.

Step 2: Right-click on the ScreenSlider icon in the System Tray and select Find devices from the list.

Step 3: Double click your device in the list that appears.
Step 4: A window will open asking you to enter the code displayed on your Android device. Do so and accept any prompts that appear concerning licensing your desktop for use.

Step 5: The screen will flicker for a short time while the connection is being made. Once this period is over you can enjoy your extended desktop space.
While connected, your Android device's screen will be capable of displaying just about anything your desktop would normally. There is a small amount of lag, so don't expect an amazingly clear and stutter-free experience. This service is not restricted to tablets only. If you can find a good use for it, you can even connect your Android phone for use as an extended monitor (as done above).
