How to delete individual photos from Photo Stream on iOS 5.1
iOS 5 introduced us to Photo Stream, as well as introduced our friends and family to pictures we wish they'd never had seen. Well, iOS 5.1 allows you to delete individual photos from Photo Stream.
Update, March 8, 2012: With the official release of iOS 5.1 by Apple, deleting photos from your Photo Stream is now available to everyone running the latest update. Along with the update to iOS, Apple also released an update to iPhoto allowing for the deletion of photos from Photo Stream as well. iOS 5 didn't have the easiest approach to deleting photos from your Photo Stream, requiring you to reset your entire stream on every iCloud connected device you owned.
With iOS 5.1, you will now be able to delete individual photos from your Photo Stream in just a few quick steps on your iOS device. Doing so will delete the photo from the Photo Stream on the remainder of your devices.
Editors' note: This post was created using a developer preview of iOS 5.1. Features Apple implements in developer previews often end up changing by the time it's been released to the general public. Should anything change, we will be sure to update this post to reflect the changes.
- Open the Photos app on your iOS device and tap on the PhotoStream album.
- Tap on the arrow button on the top right.
- Tap on the photos you would like to delete; you can select as many as you want. Tap on Delete in the lower-right corner to delete the photos.
- Watch the embarrassing photos, er we mean screenshots, disappear before your eyes.

As of now, the changes will only be reflected on devices running iOS 5.1 beta 2. So don't go looking for the changes to show up in iPhoto, or any devices running iOS 5.0. At some point, Apple will push out an update to all products, so they'll all be able to take advantage of these features.
One more thing to note: you can only delete photos taken on 5.1 across all devices. Any photos taken on 5.0 will have to be manually deleted on each individual device, following the same process above.
iOS 5.1 is on the second developer preview, with more likely to come. There currently isn't an expected release date for iOS 5.1 to the public.
