AirPlay--a technology built into the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch--brings wireless media streaming from your iOS device to your home theater. Although it has limitations, it's one of the most seamless ways to get your favorite YouTube videos, music, and home videos onto the big screen.

Watch the video and follow the instructions below to get started.

Get started with Apple AirPlay

What you need:

If you meet the requirements, streaming is easy.

Set up AirPlay: Set up the Apple TV, connect to your wireless network, and verify that AirPlay is turned on (Settings > AirPlay on your Apple TV). Then connect your iDevice to the same wireless network as the Apple TV.

Stream videos: To stream movies, launch a video (including YouTube) and hit play. You'll notice an AirPlay icon show up. Click it, select "Apple TV," and your video will begin streaming.

Stream music and photos: To stream music, launch a song or playlist, tap the AirPlay button, and select "Apple TV." For photos, open the Photos app, tap a photo, and hit the AirPlay button. Then select "Apple TV" and swipe through your album.

AirPlay-compatible apps: Developers have begun integrating AirPlay with their apps. While the list is short, it includes some great apps like TED, iMovie, AirVideo, Vevo, and IMDb. To see more compatible apps, check out the slideshow (below).
