How to download Facebook photo albums

Right-click-save is great for one picture, or even two, but if you want to download an album full of holiday or cosplay pics, it's a drag Fortunately, there's an easy way to download complete albums with just a few clicks.

There are zillions of ways to share photos online, but Facebook is incredibly popular. If you want to save pics for offline use or to share them using other services, it's possible to tackle them one at a time, but if you want to take an entire album at once, you need to set things up first. Here's how to get those albums:

  1. Downland and install the PhotoLive Chrome extension. It should be available for other browsers (and other social networks, for that matter) sometime soon, but for now, it's Chrome or nothing.
  2. Navigate to a Facebook album you've got permission to view and click the big blue "Download Album" button on the top left.
    Step 2: Download Facebook album.

    Step 2: Download Facebook album.

  3. This takes you to the PhotoLive site. It takes a moment to prepare and download the ZIP file, but it should happen in the background.
  4. Open up the ZIP file and extract the files wherever you like.

That's it. You may find that certain albums don't display the "Download Album" button; this most likely because the page owner has limited photo permissions. Ask that person nicely and he or she might give you permission!
