How to make PDFs easier to read on mobile devices
PDFs are great for sharing documents across platforms--until you're trying to read one on a 3-inch screen. Papercrop is a great Google app for Windows and Linux that lets you rebuild PDFs for easier mobile reading.
If you've ever given up on trying to read a PDF until you get back to the office, you may want to check out Papercrop. It's a great Google app for Windows and Linux that lets you rebuild PDFs for easier mobile reading. It requires some prep work and can't (yet) be done on the fly, but if you have time to run a quick app on your laptop first, you can make many PDFs much easier to read on mobile devices. Here's how it works:
- Download and install the Papercrop app.
- Run it and select "Load a PDF file," then browse until you find the document you want to rebuild.
- Select the correct starting format under "default preset," then change the parameters if you wish.
Step 3: Select format.
- Select "Process all pages." The new file is saved to the same location, using the original filename with "1" appended to the end.
The process is by no means perfect, but you should find that most PDFs are much easier to read on mobile devices afterward.
