How to connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network

Connecting your iPad to a Wi-Fi network provides Internet access to those who have a Wi-Fi-only tablet, as well as helping to eliminate any wireless data being transmitted over 3G networks. This four-step guide will walk you through connecting your iPad to a Wi-Fi network.

Connecting your iPad to the Internet is essential in order to get the most out of your tablet. We have already shown you how to connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to a Wi-Fi network in four easy steps, in this guide we are going to show you how to connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network in the same amount of steps.

1. Find the Settings app on your iPad; open it.

2. The second option on the list will be Wi-Fi; select it.

3. To the right you should see some options under the heading of Wi-Fi Networks. Make sure Wi-Fi is set to on. Once it is turned on, you will see a list of the available Wi-Fi networks. Select the network to which you wish to connect.

4. A pop-up will request the network password. Enter the password and press the Join button on the keyboard.

Once you have successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network you will see a checkmark next to the name of the network, and the signal indicator will be present on the top bar of your iPad.

The "Ask to Join Networks" option on the iPad functions the same as on the iPhone. If enabled, you will be presented with a list of discoverable hot spots in your vicinity.
