Crave giveaway: Pair of Cisco wireless routers

OK, this week we've got another two-for-one special here on Crave, but instead of software, this time it's hardware. Thanks to a donation from Cisco, we've got both an "enthusiast" wireless router, the new Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router (Cisco owns Linksys), as well the user-friendly Cisco Valet Plus, which is geared toward non-tech savvy folks.

In his review, Editor Dong Ngo said the Valet Plus will change the way you think about setting up your home network. "The Cisco Valet Plus is by far the easiest wireless router to use to … Read more

Crave giveaway: Cisco Valet Plus wireless router

OK, it's not too often that we give away two products from the same company in consecutive weeks, but hey, Cisco offered, so we're giving (last week's giveaway was the SlideHD pocket camcorder from Flip Video, which is owned by Cisco).

In his review, Editor Dong Ngo said the Valet Plus will change the way you think about setting up your home network. "The Cisco Valet Plus is by far the easiest wireless router to use to date," he wrote. "It also has great range, decent performance, and comes with effective wireless networking management … Read more

Cisco Valet Plus: A wireless router that anyone can set up

Setting up a wireless network at home is not exactly a walk in the park for most home users. For those who aren't tech-savvy, even the networking terms themselves, such as SSID, encryption key, LAN, and WAN, are already very intimidating. For this reason, last week Cisco announced a new line of wireless routers, called Cisco Valet, that takes the "Flip approach" when it comes to ease of use (Cisco acquired the maker of the Flip, Pure Digital, a year ago).

I just had a chance to review the Cisco Valet Plus, the high-end router of the … Read more

Cisco takes the Flip approach to home routers

One of the most essential tech products at home is also probably the one you hate the most: your wireless router.

Setting up a home network can be for some an excruciating experience, one that can leave even tech-savvy folks wringing their hands while switching off between calling the router's customer service line and their Internet service provider.

Cisco Systems says it's designed a new line of routers specifically to avoid this. The Valet and Valet Plus, will be available at retailers like Best Buy, Staples, and Target and online at Amazon.com starting Wednesday for $99 and $… Read more

Remember: No scratches!

Valet Hero is a fast-paced path-drawing game in which you're in charge of a crowded parking lot, parking a steady stream of speedy, color-coded cars into matching colored spots.

Its touch-screen interface is a little more interesting than you'll find with similar games: as you draw the dotted path that you want each car to follow, you can actually twist the patterns so that you're pulling through or even backing into spots. You're scored ("paid" a certain number of dollars) based on how precisely you park each car--anywhere from "perfect" to "… Read more

Inilex one-ups LoJack for GPS car security [Video]

Announced today at Demo 07, security company Inilex is launching its own GPS car security system. Like competitor Lo Jack's early warning system, Inilex has a GPS hardware unit that's installed in your vehicle and alerts you if your car is moving when you're not in it. The unit also lets you know how fast your car is going. You can secure your vehicle via phone or a Web-based interface. What's really cool is that Inilex has created a way to make your own perimeters called "geo fences." Going outside of or (in some … Read more
