Minnesota company cashing in on Steve Jobs' turtlenecks?

Sometimes people do things and then change their minds. Sometimes people say things and then wish they hadn't said them.

And sometimes people know exactly what they are saying and doing and only withdraw those sayings and doings when push and shove meet in uncomfortable circumstances.

This might be the case with company called Knitcraft. The way the Smoking Gun has it, Knitcraft used to claim that Steve Jobs was a fan of its St. Croix black Style 1990 turtlenecks.

Friday dubbed 'Wear Black for Steve Day'

Steve Jobs had a way of putting out products that emphasized usability, but had a certain style and beauty. Yet Jobs' own personal style was more simple and understated--the whole black turtleneck and jeans thing.

So it just makes sense, to some at least, to honor the late, great visionary by donning a black shirt--not only to mourn his passing, but to recognize his lasting sense of style.

That's the idea behind "Wear Black for Steve Day," promoted to Crave by a couple of guys on Facebook with a simple Web page that asks everyone to wear a black shirt tomorrow, October 14, along with a name tag with the name of a favorite visionary, be it Jobs, Martin Luther King, Jr., Bill Gates, or (hopefully not) Howard Stern.… Read more

McQueen's motorcycles up for auction

"I worked hard. And if you work hard, you get the goodies."

The gentleman who famously said that, the star of The Great Escape, Bullitt and Le Mans, was possibly referring to his extensive collection of cars and bikes.

Steve McQueen's widow is auctioning off several of those goodies Saturday at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, Calif., via Bonhams & Butterfields. Rumor has it that several collectors and celebrities are going to "fight like hell" to get them.
