Fiery annular solar eclipse to be broadcast live on Internet

It's that time again where certain people on Earth are lucky enough to see an annular eclipse, or "ring of fire."

Whatever your fandom may be, some Lego aficionado has probably already built a massive version of it. OK, so we've already seen a 200,000-piece alien city and a 70,000-piece Serenity spaceship. Built by Rich-K and Big J, the model is 90 percent complete. The Lego fans (under the name "Goel Kim") uploaded the creation to MOCpages, an unofficial Lego fan site where builders share their accomplishments. And what an accomplishment this is. Analyst: Apple 60-inch iTV with iRing motion controller to launch in 2013

Topeka Capital's Brian White went on the road, visiting the China-Taiwan tech supply chain to glean some intelligence on what Apple will launch in the coming months, and he found the "iRing."

Giant sandcastle Minas Tirith survives orcs, falls to rain

When Joseph Alvernaz set out to build a sand sculpture replica of Minas Tirith from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," he didn't take any shortcuts. The structure took two summers to create out of a sandy loam that holds together better than regular beach sand. Once finished, he could stand atop the 10-foot-tall structure without breaking it.

While Minas Tirith in the books and movies had to deal with orcs and lumbering oliphaunts, the sandcastle version had to contend with birds and waves. The creation was made entirely of sand and water, with the exception of a single brace in the top tower, which was necessary to counteract the ruthless attacks of birds landing on it and breaking it.… Read more
