Review: Uninstall applications like a pro with Revo Uninstaller Pro

Sometimes there are instances where the stock uninstaller for Windows just isn't enough: Revo Uninstaller is a deep cleaning uninstallation utility that does more than just remove a program from the surface.

Once you open the program, you'll see a ribbon-like menu with a couple of options. Programs can be listed via icons or in list form with details that include installation dates, file sizes, version number, uninstall strings, and more. To uninstall a program, select one or more installed applications and choose either "Uninstall" or "Quick Uninstall."

The main difference between the two … Read more

Apple's map flop stirs new mobile battle

Thursday's CNET Update feels a little lost:

Apple's got a bit of a mess on its hands. A map mess. In the upgrade to iOS 6, Apple has replaced maps powered by Google with its own new creation. But depending on where you roam, map results can be inaccurate or hard to decipher. Examples of glitchy moments, inaccuracies and lack of data have been posted on the Tumblr blog "The Amazing iOS 6 Maps." If you upgraded to iOS 6, you can access Google Maps via the browser. You can also bookmark maps.google.com as … Read more

Behind the curtain at Google's Cirque du Soleil show

Google Chrome and Cirque du Soleil have partnered to show off the potential of the modern Web with an all-HTML5 Cirque performance that's unique to the Web, called Movi.Kanti.Revo.

The name comes from the Esperanto terms for moving, singing, and dreaming, according to the official Movi.Kanti.Revo Google announcement, and the experience does go to great lengths to create a dreamlike world on the Web. During different scenes of Movi .Kanti.Revo (pronounced MOOV-ee CANT-ee REEV-oh), you can interact with the site by moving your body or speaking to your computer. If that sounds a lot … Read more

OCZ intros PCIe-based hybrid drive

For those who favor hybrid drives over solid-state drives due to the cost, though the Seagate Momentus XT has thus far been the sole representative, there's now another option. OCZ announced today its first hybrid drive, the RevoDrive Hybrid.

The new drive is very different from the Momentus XT, as it doesn't follow the traditional design of an SATA drive, but rather that of a PCI Express (PCIe) add-on card, normally found in a video or sound product. This means that while the drive won't fit in most places where regular SATA hard drives would be used, … Read more

Powerful Revo Uninstaller Portable

Revo Uninstaller Portable is a portable freeware version of Revo Uninstaller. It's from PortableApps, which specializes in producing versatile portable versions of popular open-source freeware. Like the installed version, Revo Portable offers much more versatility than most other uninstaller programs, including several levels of thoroughness that can scour your system for the files and folders other uninstallers leave behind.

The first thing we noticed when we opened Revo is that it doesn't look like any other uninstaller we've tried, though it can, if we wanted to make it so: we could toggle between the default icon view … Read more

Revo in review: Acer innovates the home theater PC

We posted our review of Acer's Revo 100 budget home theater PC this afternoon, and if you're still on board with the concept of a PC in the living room, we recommend this PC for two reasons.

The first is that Acer has done a better job than any other HTPC vendor at addressing the couch-based input problem that plagues living room systems. The $499 Revo comes with a wireless touchpad that doubles as a QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard works better than the touchpad, which doesn't recognize your tap-based clicks as well as it should, but compared to the usual cruddy remote, or worse a full-sized wireless mouse and keyboard, the Revo 100's touchpad offers a tidy solution to a classic HTPC problem.… Read more

Acer Aspire Revo RL100 reimagines living room PC

The living room PC might not be the most exciting concept, but Acer has rekindled our interest with its new Aspire Revo RL100 design. Roughly the shape of a slim PlayStation 2, the Revo RL100 offers both a sleek design and an innovative keyboard that attempts to solve the classic interface problem inherent to media PCs.

The wireless backlit keyboard pops out from a slot underneath the optical drive. It's not meant for writing essays, but it should suffice for simple text entries, like searching for a movie title. The keyboard also doubles as a touch-pad surface, and in … Read more

iSkin introduces Solo and Revo iPhone 4 cases

We've been waiting for iSkin to release a version of its popular Solo case for the iPhone 4 and now it has along with a Revo4 case. Both these cases come in multiple colors and iSkin is offering a "special introductory" price on the Solo (pictured on right), which it will sell for $14.99 until August 31, 2010.

ISkin's news release says the company is offering that special price--the Solo normally lists for $29.99--to support Apple's iPhone 4 case program. We're not sure what that means, because, after all, Apple's is … Read more

Revo Uninstaller releases new pro version

The latest version of the popular Revo Uninstaller utility now removes 64-bit apps and throws in a host of other new features.

The VS Revo Group this week unveiled the new $40 professional edition of its Revo Uninstaller, a utility that can cleanly rid your system of unwanted software. Available in the past solely as freeware, Revo Uninstaller will now come in two flavors--the free edition and the pro. The free version hasn't been updated since the spring and so lacks many of the new features found in its professional cousin.

Shenel Emin, a product manager at VS Revo … Read more

New Ikon digital radio boasts color touch screen

There are many docking stations for the iPod/iPhone on the market, but if you're looking for one that's different--possibly in a good way--Revo has something for you.

The company announced on Monday its newest digital radio, the Ikon, which may be the first to come with a full-color 3.5-inch touch screen and an icon-based user interface. It also supports multistandard radio capabilities and works as a dock for the iPod or iPhone.

According to Revo, a European designer and manufacturer of digital audio devices, the Ikon can receive the full roster of digital radio standards, including … Read more
