A&E launches iPad apps with free access to full episodes

Fans of such shows as "Swamp People," "Storage Wars," and "Monster In-Laws" can now catch full episodes for free via their iPads.

A+E Networks, the company behind these series and more, unveiled three iPad apps yesterday: one for A&E shows, another for History shows, and a third for Lifetime shows and movies.

Viewers will be able to catch all episodes from the current seasons of various shows, as well as some episodes from previous seasons. Subscribers to Comcast's Xfinity TV will have access to all episodes from previous seasons.

TomTom now offering lifetime map, traffic updates

TomTom makes good on its pledge to offer lifetime map and traffic updates on select models with its announcement today that the services are now available in North America. More specifically, TomTom has announced the availability of new versions of models in its XL and XXL series that will come bundled with the Lifetime Traffic service, Lifetime Map Update service, or both.

Updating your GPS with the latest map updates can get quite expensive, but Garmin is hoping to offer its customers a better deal with its new nuMaps Lifetime Map Update Program.

For a one-time fee, you'll be able to download new points of interest, streets, and addresses to your Garmin unit for life. Subscribers will be alerted to new updates (up to four times a year) via e-mail and maps will be downloaded directly to your computer to be transferred to the GPS via USB cable.
