Jimmy Fallon was the first person since Sony's PlayStation event earlier this week to publicly take one of the console's games for a spin.
Sony last night brought the PlayStation 4 to "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," allowing the host to briefly play Killzone: Shadow Fall. His time on the new PlayStation 4 controller -- which was detailed ad nauseam -- was short-lived. One of Fallon's guests also had the chance to play Killzone, but that, too, was a quick experience.
Interestingly, the person from the Killzone team who was playing the title had no … Read more

NEW YORK--So the world didn't exactly get what it wanted out of Sony's PlayStation 4 debut tonight. There was no sight of the actual console itself and details about its specific release date and price were also nowhere to be seen.
Sony's team-up with Gaikai is sure to net some interesting ideas and implementations with cloud streaming, the sharing of game screens, remote play, and other concoctions, but the games themselves were what made the biggest impact.
Those pondering the PS4's gaming prowess were served an interesting dish. Ten or so major developers were represented in … Read more
To show off the graphical capabilities of its upcoming PlayStation 4 console, Sony went with two mainstays of gaming: guns and cars.
That started out with a demo from Guerrilla Games to debut its upcoming title Killzone: Shadow Fall, the latest in the popular Killzone series.
The demo, shown off during the unveiling of Sony's PlayStation 4 today, started out with a landing on top of a city high-rise that quickly becomes ground zero for an attack, and lengthy shootout with the game's baddies, the Helghast.
Of note, the demo -- which included a dramatic escape from the … Read more
There's no denying that the Killzone franchise is easily one of the PlayStation 3's best-looking series, but does the follow-up to 2009's blockbuster bring anything new to the table?
Jeff: There's no shortage of stunning visuals in Killzone 3, but unfortunately that's where the interest ends. There is simply too much of the same game we saw in the previous title to make Killzone 3 stand on its own.
Aside from the occasional jet pack levels and jungle environments, Killzone 3 is irritatingly repetitive. Also, the issue of clunky controls remains present; the analog sticks just feel sluggish in game, something other PS3 shooters do not suffer from.
Sony is pushing the Sharp Shooter Move accessory as an alternative way to play the game as well. While we haven't had enough time to give the Sharp Shooter its own separate review, our experience with it during Killzone 3 sessions was mixed. We really liked the vast amount of functionality littered along the device, but aiming and movement really took some getting used to.… Read more

The first-person shooter genre will morph into more than just a run-and-gun experience, according Guerrilla Games senior producer Steven Ter Heide.
Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Heide said he sees the first-person shooter genre "becoming broader." Instead of simply allowing gamers to work their way through missions through the same basic gameplay, he sees the market segment becoming more of an "action" genre in which the titles borrow concepts from other parts of the game industry to deliver more full-featured play.
"It'll expand, start borrowing things from other genres, like Borderlands did by bringing RPG [… Read more
A lot of the time was spent at Sony's E3 2010 press conference talking about 3D gaming and PlayStation Move, but the company also made room for a few surprises. We learned about a few titles we expected to see at the big show, but we were also a bit disappointed that Sony didn't use the opportunity to showcase titles teased last year, most notably The Last Guardian.
Among the games on display was a mix of multiplatform and exclusive titles, though mostly everything had some sort of PS3-only element to boast. Here's a rundown of what we saw:
Killzone 3: Sony led with a 3D demo of Killzone 3, showing off impressive graphics and scenes of intense action and carnage. Plenty of gameplay scenarios and environments were on display, and we really enjoyed the addition of a jet pack. Killzone 3 will ship in February 2011.
Gran Turismo 5: No gameplay was shown for Gran Tursimo 5, but Sony announced the title will be available in 3D when it ships on November 2.
Portal 2: A surprise here,… Read more
