Xbox Live Gold membership good for both Xbox One and 360

Xbox 360 owners who have a Live Gold membership will be able to use it on the Xbox One as well.

Phil Harrison, a corporate VP with Microsoft, confirmed to video game blog site Polygon that the same Gold membership will apply to both systems. Xbox Live Gold sbscribers who buy an Xbox One won't have to ante up for yet another subscription.

Plus, that same single membership can be shared by multiple people, according to Microsoft's Ben Kilgore. Each user will still have access to their own settings and customizations.

California gets first commercial white-space high-speed Internet

Believe it or not, there are still parts of the U.S. that don't have access to high-speed Internet. But that's looking to change with the onset of TV white-space broadband technology.

The first commercial application of this type of service in the U.S. is coming to a rural area of Northern California called El Dorado County, or Gold Country. Internet provider Cal.net is partnering with network equipment provider Carlson to bring this region's residents something more than dial-up.

Reddit has seen its user population skyrocket, but that growth is forcing it to spend money to keep up with the flow.

The company revealed its latest traffic stats in a blog posted yesterday.

Last month, Reddit recorded more than 3.8 billion page views and more than 46 million unique visitors. Those page views alone are double what the Web site saw a year ago, according to VentureBeat.
