It's a pretty safe bet Apple will eventually incorporate Intel's latest processors into its MacBook lineup, though when that will happen is still unknown.

But on Wednesday, AppleInsider got its hands on an e-mail promotion sent to participants in the Intel Retail Edge Program (IREP)--a training program for Intel sales representatives--that hints something might be coming soon. The e-mail to participants includes this language: "January Prize Draw: Win a MacBook Pro. Pass this month's trainings for 2 chances to win one of 2 MacBook Pro laptops with the accelerated response of an Intel Core i5 processor."

Reached for comment, an Intel spokesman said, "There was an error on IREP and we are investigating."

It could have been a mistake in the language in the e-mail, or--and this seems more likely--the mistake could have been that it was sent out too early. MacBook Pros with Arrandale architecture, which includes the Core i5 processor, have been anticipated for some time, as my colleague Brooke Crothers wrote on Monday. Longtime partners Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard are a planning a new tie-up.

Though details are limited so far, the two companies released a brief media advisory that there will be a joint teleconference Wednesday morning regarding an expanded partnership. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and HP Chairman and CEO Mark Hurd will both be on the call, along with Bob Muglia, president of Microsoft's Server and Tools Business, and Dave Donatelli, executive vice president and general manager of HP's Enterprise Servers and Networking, Enterprise Business.

Like many people who work for a company that's located hundreds of miles from their home, I rely on remote-access programs, specifically the Remote Desktop Connection utility built into Windows. I recently encountered a relatively common bug in the program: in the midst of a remote session, I lost the ability to copy and paste.

Those intrigued by the "GodMode" in Windows 7 may be interested to know that there are many other similar shortcuts hidden within the operating system.

Intended for developers as a shortcut to various internal settings, such features have been around since Vista and even before, according to the head of Microsoft's Windows division, who tells CNET that the so-called GodMode settings folder uncovered by bloggers is just one of many undocumented developer features included in Windows.
