As promised, Fujifilm reveals M-mount adapter for X-Pro1

Come this June, you'll finally be able to use your languishing Leica lenses on the Fujifilm X-Pro1 -- or at least expand on Fujifilm's small collection of lenses.

The new M-Mount Adapter will cost $199.99 and seems to provide full compatibility, including support for the camera's viewfinder framing corrections. Via the camera's Mount Adapter Settings you'll be able to create profiles for up to six lenses with corrections for distortion, peripheral illumination, and color shading across the frame.

It sounds well-built -- aluminum mount on the body side, stainless steel on the lens side, connected by aluminum.… Read more

LG Optimus M gets a makeover with the M+

In 2010, MetroPCS released its first Android smartphone, the LG Optimus M. We were pretty satisfied with the phone, save for its boxy design and the fact that its specs weren't up to par with its counterpart models carried by other networks.

But two years is a long time in this industry, and MetroPCS recently released an updated version of the M, aptly called the LG Optimus M+. With its 3.5-inch screen, 800MHz processor, and 5-megapixel camera, the bumps in specs in this mid- to entry-level device did not go unnoticed. And, compared with the original M, the … Read more

Mobile all-in-one stands out among trio of new HP printers

HP has taken the wraps off three new consumer printers, including an update to last year's mobile all-in-one.

The HP Officejet 150 Mobile is a refresh to the HP Officejet Mobile 100, a useful accessory that earned a 7.5/10 CNET Editors' rating back in 2011 for its flexible connectivity options, Bluetooth accessibility, and rechargeable battery. This time around, HP updates the mobile inkjet sidekick with quick scanning and copying directly to a compatible USB drive or memory card.

The printer's physical composition retains the same general clam shell design of its predecessor but adds a 2.… Read more

Samsung's new Series 7 Gamer laptop adds Ivy Bridge, Nvidia graphics for $1,900

Back at CES 2012, we got our first glimpse of Samsung's new gaming laptop, the Series 7 Gamer, tucked away at Samsung's booth with little fanfare. That laptop is finally available for purchase, and it features Intel's new Ivy Bridge processors and the latest Nvidia graphics in a package that's competitive with what other gaming PC makers are offering. … Read more

The ZTE Score gets a sporty makeover for MetroPCS

About a month ago in March, I got my hands on the ZTE Score by Cricket Wireless. Aside from its decent call quality, there wasn't much to write home about. The device had a unresponsive touch screen and its speed (both in relation to the processor and network) was sluggish.

Tacking on an extra "M" at the end of its name (I'm assuming it stands for MetroPCS...or maybe marshmallows?), MetroPCS got a hold of the device, changed up the design a bit to accommodate a larger battery (the original score had a 1,200mAh battery; … Read more

CNET's mobile site redesign works like a mobile app

At CNET, we spend a lot of time with our phones -- probably more than any human should. We know that there's nothing as frustrating as a hard-to-navigate mobile Web site. There's so little space on a phone screen that every pixel has to earn its keep. So when we redesigned our m.cnet.com site from the ground up, we took cues from something everyone knows and loves: mobile apps.

First, we simplified the layout of our mobile site and made its navigation familiar to anyone who uses Facebook, Path, or any other common mobile app. When … Read more

Dell updates Alienware M14x, m17x, m18x with new GPUs, but no Ivy Bridge yet

Dell is rolling out a series of updates to the Alienware M14x, m17x, m18x laptops, including the latest GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. This timing is odd, to say the least, as Intel's third-generation Core i-series CPUs (also known as Ivy Bridge) aren't included.

Instead, these new Alienware models have the current second-gen chips (aka Sandy Bridge). As the high-end quad-core versions of Ivy Bridge are expected to be available from PC makers starting around April 29, the message is clear -- anyone who orders one of these new Alienware laptops before that is a sucker. … Read more
