With stunning power and handling, the CTS-V gives the already excellent Cadillac CTS a huge performance edge. First-class interior and cutting-edge cabin tech make it a comfortable cruiser, but get it on a track where you can really have some fun. BMW M3s and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG's better watch out if they see a CTS-V coming up behind them.
It might seem absurd to match an efficient hybrid power train with a massive luxury SUV, but Cadillac went ahead and did it anyway. The result is a truck that offers a lot of amenities for seven passengers, plus towing capability, along with fuel economy we often see in V-6 sedans.

At next week's inauguration, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. will not only have a new resident, but also a new set of wheels in the driveway. President Barack Obama will ride in an all-new Cadillac Presidential Limousine, dubbed Cadillac One.
Inside and out, the Cadillac Presidential Limousine includes many of the brand's signature design elements, such as the dual-textured grille and the dinner plate-sized Cadillac coat-of-arms badge that are the hallmarks of the CTS sport sedan and Escalade. Vertically oriented head- and taillights mirror those used on production models. Compared with the outgoing Cadillac-supplied Presidential Limo, Cadillac One is slightly … Read more
The rumors before the 2009 Detroit Auto Show were true, Cadillac showed off a concept based on the Volt series hybrid power train. The Cadillac Converj concept shows off a low, sporty looking 2+2 coupe design with Cadillac's Art and Science design language present through-out. With the Converj roll-out, GM had a few announcements about its series hybrid efforts, such as its intention to build a factory to produce automotive batteries.
The powertrain for the Converj and the upcoming production Volt now has a name: GM calls it Voltec. This power train uses an electric motor to drive … Read more
If size matters, the redesigned 2010 Cadillac SRX should hit the sweet spot occupied by the highly successful Lexus RX series.
The new Cadillac crossover seats five, like the RX, and is a mere 4 inches longer than Lexus' No. 1 seller. The SRX also has front-wheel drive, like the RX. All-wheel drive is optional.
Once asked why the current generation SRX wasn't successful, General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz blamed the vehicle's size--it is too big and it seats seven. The 2010 SRX is about 5 inches shorter than the 2009 model, and seating is reduced by … Read more
Meet the new ride, same as the old ride.
Inauguration Day for Barack Obama will also mark the first day of service for a new presidential limousine--a Cadillac, just like its predecessor. The Detroit News is reporting that the new limo, now in the hands of the Secret Service, will be about the same size as the one it's replacing, though it will have, at the very least, bigger windows. Beyond that, the newspaper said, General Motors spokesman David Caldwell offered precious little information.
Not surprisingly, the Secret Service was, well, secretive about everything but the January 20 date … Read more
DETROIT -- The future sweet spot for Buick's car line will be the mid-sized segment, the top executive for General Motors' Buick-Pontiac-GMC sales channel says.
The full-sized-car segment "has declined 35 percent this calendar year. Bringing more entries into a declining segment wouldn't necessarily be smart," said Susan Docherty, vice president of Buick-Pontiac-GMC.
Sales of the full-sized Lucerne totaled 50,799 in first 11 months of this year, a 34.1 percent drop from the year-ago period.
Buick's spotlight on the car side will be aimed at the redesigned, mid-sized 2010 LaCrosse, which debuts next … Read more
The days of keeping a library of tapes or CDs in your car are over. You walk around with an MP3 player, so why shouldn't you be able to use it in your car? Today's MP3 players can hold your entire music collection, so you don't have to decide which tunes to bring with you. Today's cars let you easily plug in an iPod or MP3 player and have full control over the device through voice command or the car's touch screen, and that's much safer than trying to manipulate the small controls on … Read more
Cadillac's wings have been clipped.
While General Motors wrestles with financial problems and analyzes higher fuel economy rules, the automaker has put on hold plans to develop a stylish Cadillac competitor to the mid-sized Mercedes-Benz E class, as well as the future of the Escalade SUV.
On the plus side, the CTS car will get more versions, a redesigned SRX crossover is on the horizon, and GM's high-mileage Volt technology likely will filter over to Cadillac.
