Plenty of new phones could land in Barcelona

Though last month's CES offered plenty of mobile news, committed wireless watchers know that the annual Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona is the smartphone and tablet jackpot.

This year, the fun begins on February 27 with a full afternoon of press conferences coming the day before. And though a possible transit strike is threatening to muck up the logistics of an already logistically challenged event, we're already reveling in a flood of rumors as to what devices might make their debut. Yes, some of this gossip may not pan out, but you can bet that the four … Read more

Leaked photos of LG Miracle Windows Phone emerge

Photos of a new Windows Phone, dubbed the LG Miracle, have been revealed by Pocketnow, and boy does it look...underwhelming.

Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms with either LG or Microsoft, and I'm always excited to hear about what new phones will be sporting the Windows Phone platform.

But seriously, if it weren't for that fake lens flare up at the top right, my eyes would have just glazed over the whole picture. It looks like every other (save for the Nokia Lumias) Windows Phone we've seen so far.

Sam's Club next to get mini Apple stores?

Despite making a clean break with wholesale retailer Costco in late 2010, Apple could be looking to expand its footprint with one of its rivals, a new report suggests.

Citing anonymous sources, 9to5mac says Apple is in talks with Sam's Club, a membership-only chain operated by Wal-Mart Stores, to expand a current partnership. That could take the form of a store within a store at the wholesale retailer, similar to the deal announced last month between Apple and Target, according to the blog report.

Those store-within-stores would end up at 47 Sam's Club locations in the U.S., … Read more

Samsung may have a 2GHz Galaxy Tab 11.6 for Mobile World Congress

Though new rumors are suggesting that we won't see a Samsung Galaxy S II sucessor at next month's Mobile World Congress, it's pretty much guaranteed that Samsung will introduce something in Barcelona, Spain.

Yes, according to new rumors currently spreading across the Internet, Sammy instead will unveil a 2GHz dual-core Galaxy Tab instead.

Word of the device first surfaced in December when BGR reported on an alleged 11.6-inch tablet with a 2,560x1,600-pixel display resolution.

With a form factor said to be "barely larger" than its predecessor, the presumed Galaxy Tab 11.6 … Read more

LG Optimus 3D 2 a second stab at the third dimension

Looks like LG is having another go at making a 3D phone. The follow-up to last year's Optimus 3D has leaked online and is set to offer another round of glasses-free three-dimensional kicks.

Pocketnow has acquired leaked images of the new phone (reportedly code-named the CX2), as well as a selection of specs. The exciting news is that the Optimus 3D 2 will reportedly be able to convert 2D material into 3D before firing it out of its 4.3-inch display, and into your eyes.

We have to admit, when we've seen 2D-to-3D conversion before (in 3D televisions, for example), it's never wound up looking particularly good. We'll reserve judgement until we've laid eyes on this phone for ourselves though.
