Add YouTube to the list of Web sites offering visitors live streaming video of NCAA Division I men's tournament games.

The Google-owned video site quietly began streaming college basketball games on Thursday via a feed from CBS (parent company of CNET News).

I don't understand why CBS wouldn't have promoted this more in order to take full advantage of YouTube's enormous audience. It's that time of year again: days are getting longer, the weather's warming up (a bit), and 65 college basketball teams are hoping to be the last ones standing when the buzzer sounds, ending the last of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's 64 games.

In its bid to broaden the appeal of Windows Media Center, Microsoft is launching a new sports channel that will offer a range of sports coverage, including replays of NCAA basketball tournament games.

WMC has yet to go mainstream and is still primarily used by hardcore techies. Microsoft is out to change that by making the WMC easier to use, as well as acquiring rights to premium video content.

Microsoft has licensed the rights to sports content from Fox Sports, CBSSports.com (owned by CBS, parent company of CNET News), and MSNBC.com.

March 11 marks a first for EA. Available via downloadable content is the official NCAA Tournament edition of its college basketball video game. This will be exclusive DLC for the Xbox 360, fittingly called NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition.

NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition will be easy to download for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Marketplace for 1,200 Microsoft Points beginning March 11. The game will initially feature teams from last year's tournament, and then beginning on March 18, it will feature the just-announced official Selection Sunday brackets and accurate teams with updated ratings.
