Is rear-pro the way to go for a large-screen TV?

Around the holiday season we get a lot of e-mails from readers agonizing over what TV to buy. With the economy the way it is, consumers aren't completely shying away from buying new TVs, but they're on tight budgets and appear to be predominantly interested screen sizes 52 inches or smaller. The big problem with going bigger is that you jump into a whole new price class when you start looking at the Panasonic 58-inch plasma--and it gets worse when you check out Pioneer's 60-incher. The exception to all this is DLP-based rear-projection HDTVs, where Samsung … Read more

Samsung Saga, Renown debut for Verizon Wireless

Samsung continues its new phone onslaught with two handsets for Verizon Wireless, the Samsung Saga and the Samsung Renown. The two models rest at opposite ends of the feature spectrum so mobile users of all stripes should find something for them.

The Samsung Saga (aka the SCH-i770) is a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.55-inch touch screen. It reminds us vaguely of the Samsung Blackjack, but it sports a blue color scheme, a curvier bottom, and redesigned controls. The dual-mode CDMA/GSM device supports a full range of Microsoft application, such as … Read more

Taking the Samsung Behold for a spin

If you haven't noticed, touch-screen phones are in, and it seems as if every carrier and manufacturer are rushing to jump on the bandwagon. The latest entry is the new Samsung Behold comes to T-Mobile.

Also called the SGH-T919, the Behold resembles both the Samsung Omnia and the LG Dare with a little bit of the Samsung Instinct thrown in. It has an expansive touch-screen design while offering a music player, a 5-megapixel camera, and (most notably) support for T-Mobile's growing 3G network. The result is an attractive, powerful phone with an easy-to-use TouchWiz interface. On the downside, … Read more

Samsung unleashes another Boeing phone

Never one to rest on its laurels, Samsung has released yet another phone with a slim slider design. AT&T's Samsung SGH-A777 is the latest in the company's Boeing series, as we've come to call it. It started with the A707 and then proceeded to roll out the A717, the A727, the A737, the A747, and the A767, all for AT&T. Yes, the company skipped over the A757 but we still like the analogy. The only trouble is that the phones don't resemble the corresponding airplanes in any way. If that were true, … Read more

Samsung Propel is a slider that texts

The Samsung Propel is yet another messaging phone from AT&T, and it's in the form of a slim slider handset. The Propel has quite a lot to offer feature-wise--3G/HSDPA, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a music player, stereo Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and of course access to AT&T's array of 3G services, such as AT&T Mobile Music, Cellular Video, and more.

However, we weren't too thrilled with the rather pedestrian design and the flat and slippery keyboard left something to be desired. Check out our slide show and our review of the Samsung PropelRead more
