Fujitsu prepping a pair of 10-inch Android tablets

Fujitsu's Android presence has been meager, especially on the tablet front. Its state of the slate could change soon, if a leaked company road map is any indication. Italian blog Notebook Italia obtained a copy of what appears to be Fujitsu's planned product releases for 2012-2013, which shows at least two Android tablets on the horizon.

According to the road map, Fujitsu has a pair of 10-inch Android 4.0 tablets expected to arrive any day now.

The "high end Bacura" tablet is thought to be water resistant, much like recent Fujitsu smartphones. Its release is … Read more

Touch-panel shipments dipping as iPhone 5 looms, report says

Apple is cutting its orders of iPhone touch panels, indicating that it's preparing to transition to its next handset, according to the DigiTimes.

Apple's touch-panel suppliers, TPK Holding and Wintek, will see shipments of the components decline sequentially by 15 percent to 20 percent during the second quarter, according to Taiwan-based DigiTimes, citing sources. The publication's sources say Apple's current iPhone line is "moving into the final stage," and the company is moving to a new technology, called in-cell touch, for the iPhone 5.

In-cell touch technology has been rumored to be coming to the iPhone 5 for well over a month. … Read more

Leaked specs confirm dual-core CPU for Verizon's Galaxy S III

A leaked user agent profile has seemingly confirmed rumors that at least one U.S. version of the expected Galaxy S III will feature a dual-core processor.

According to details picked up by Pocketnow, Verizon's model (SCH-i535) will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset. Much like HTC has done with the One X on AT&T, the smartphone will forgo the quad-core CPU in order to integrate 4G LTE support.

Though some users may cry foul at the switch, I suggest waiting before complaining. Considering how positive the initial reviews are for the HTC One X, I suspect … Read more

Apple, HTC planning fall launches on Verizon's network, report says

Verizon Wireless could be home to a host of new, prominent smartphones in the coming months, according to a new report.

Boy Genius Report is claiming today that it has the skinny on Verizon's summer and fall smartphone roadmap. And although details in the report are extremely slim, and it doesn't offer proof that BGR has viewed an actual document from Verizon, its assertions are rather interesting.

For one, the blog claims that the roadmap includes mention of a new iPhone launch slated for a fall release. The claim is just the latest in a string of rumors … Read more

Samsung Galaxy S III may be minor update with eye tracking

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be a relatively minor update from the S II, a source in the U.K. telecoms industry has told me, with a speed boost and eye tracking among the upgrades. And it probably won't be called the Galaxy S III.

Rather than go for a complete overhaul, Samsung has apparently opted for an incremental update to the S III. "It'll be like the iPhone 4S was to the 4," says my source, who wished to remain anonymous. He gave no firm word on specs, but said we should look to the HTC One X for what to expect. That has a 1.5GHz quad-core chip with 1GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch screen.

Image hints at a Samsung Galaxy Note for Sprint

Sprint could be the next wireless carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy Note, at least according to one image found online.

TechnoBuffalo discovered the massive 5.3-inch smartphone prominently displayed in one of the provider's online marketing tools. Although the handset is advertising a link for Mobile Controls, TechnoBuffalo surmises that the image strongly resembles Samsung's titanic device.

Of course, this singular graphic is far from proof of any Samsung and Sprint announcements. On the other hand, after seeing this, I wouldn't be shocked if they did.

Samsung has a history of releasing the same model across … Read more

'HTC Evo One' appears hours before Sprint launch

It's only a few hours before HTC and Sprint unveil a mystery device, but Droid Life has already gotten its hands on a device it claims to be one and the same.

The device in question? The rumor mill has dubbed it the HTC Evo One, Sprint's version of the HTC One X phone that was announced at Mobile World Congress last month.… Read more

Another Samsung Galaxy S III image paints a clearer picture

With so many interested parties digging for early information about the Samsung Galaxy S III, the successor to its immensely popular Galaxy S II Android handset, it's no surprise that multiple sources are claiming to strike gold with leaked images and specs.

Netherlands-based mobile blog GSM Helpdesk (in Dutch) is the latest to post an image that it claims is none other than the anticipated smartphone, and an official press shot at that.… Read more

Dialed In #215: The agony and ecstasy of Mike Daisey (podcast)

Actor Mike Daisey's one-man show on his depiction of deplorable working conditions at Apple's iPhone factory took a sharp turn when Daisey's "facts" were revealed as partial fiction. It isn't just Daisey's shaky credibility that's on the line, nor the news outlets that publicized his work as first-hand source material--CNET included--but also the message he's worked so hard to drive home.

We also take a closer look at the benefits of unlimited data--or not--and check out one of the most intense workout accessories that does more than just play your music … Read more

According to the blog, the ZTE Fury is set to arrive on March 11 with a wallet-friendly $19.99 price tag and a two-year commitment. If you hear the price and expect low-end hardware then you'd be right; this ain't no superphone.
