Companies have tinkered with the concept of wearable monitors for years. This summer, Santa Monica-based Headplay is going to see if the public wants to buy them.

A full-fledged media PC, The CineMagix aims to provide users with a total digital experience.

Time Trumpet weirds me out

Time Trumpet was the winner for film and TV in this year's South By Southwest Interactive Web Awards this past Sunday (see our coverage here). The site contains a number of faux-futurecentric video clips with historical satire about politics, current events, and celebrities. What's neat is the somewhat experimental interface that blends various media in partial 3D, similar to Universe which we took a look at yesterday. You can sort through it all by episode or subject, and each clip will organize itself into a neat, swirling vortex. It's total eye candy.

37-inch LCD proves pink is still in

The pink-gadget craze is far from over, contrary to some speculation, if JVC-Victor's latest release is any indication. Among the company's new line of TVs released in Japan was a 37-inch pink model (with matching remote, of course). Technical information is a bit hard to come by, other than its 1,366x768 resolution. But Engadget has the most pertinent information anyway: It also comes in brown, beige and silver.

All-in-one dashboard PC

And here we thought the sun-visor theater was a bad idea. As if we don't have enough traffic problems already, SNT Korea has developed a dashboard PC that runs Windows XP to divert our attention from the road too. The touch-screen unit can be used for everything from GPS navigation to live TV, which Newlaunches says can be recorded on a built-in hard drive that can be transferred to a disc later. Verizon's LG VX9400 could launch this month

Just last week, Crave was in a bit of fix over the launch of V Cast TV from Verizon Wireless. Though we were excited to see the service take off, we couldn't help but bemoan the fact that only the Samsung SCH-U620 was supported at launch. It's not that the SCH-U20 was particularly bad, but rather that the other V Cast TV phone, the LG VX9400, was especially good. All bamboo, all the time

Just a few hours ago we were convinced that wood was taking over the gadget world, but we may have to refine that a bit--perhaps it's just bamboo. Gizmodo notes that it's been a banner day for the sylvan species: Not only did we point to Crave UK's sneak peek at Asus' bamboo laptops, but the eco-friendly wood has been used to make a 19-inch LCD TV as well from Playengine, which is based in the U.K. (hence the soccer--sorry, futbol--players on screen). Searchles TV: Multivideo embed tool

Searchles, the social network that launched last June, has rolled out a new feature called Searchles TV, which lets you combine multiple clips from multiple services to share elsewhere in an embeddable player. Similar to SplashCast (see previous coverage), you can jog back and forth between clips without leaving the player. Searchles works with videos from YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, Grouper and Blip.tv, and plans to add more partners in the future.
