Have problems installing? Check the media

There are numerous instances of things going wrong when installing new programs, especially if the program requires a more in-depth installation than a simple drag and drop to the Applications folder. LOS ANGELES--Netflix probably won't get a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame anytime soon, but the Web's top video rental service has recently become a blockbuster hit with film industry chieftains.

Just nine months ago, sources in the film industry told CNET that Netflix's long string of Wall Street-wowing earnings reports hadn't gone unnoticed at the studios. With all that money rolling in, many studio decision makers weren't happy with their cut--especially when it came to the company's blossoming streaming-movie service.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has apparently solved the problem--at least for now--by … Read more

Former Senator Bob Kerrey to lead MPAA

Robert "Bob" Kerrey, a former U.S. Senator and governor from the state of Nebraska as well as a Vietnam war hero has agreed to steer the Motion Picture Association of America.

There's little technology focus in Kerrey's background but his resume is impressive nonetheless. He is a former unsuccessful candidate for U.S. President (1992) and during his Vietnam service … Read more

Warner Bros. has expanded its DVD2Blu program, a service that offers customers the opportunity to send in a DVD copy of a movie and receive back from the studio a Blu-ray version.

Although I haven't tested it out, the process of using DVD2Blu seems painless. Customers can go to the site and select … Read more
