Photos: Paris Air Show's wild blue yonder

The 2007 biennial International Paris Air Show got under way Monday with a flurry of announcements, press conferences and flybys from some of the biggest names in the aviation business. The tarmac at Le Bourget Airport outside the French capital was crowded with aircraft of all sizes.

Much of the early buzz at the show went to the commercial rivalry between Boeing and Airbus, both of which have been heavily promoting two marquee aircraft. For Airbus, it's the A380 superjumbo; it's due to go into service with Singapore Airlines in October.

For Paris Hilton, 'The Prison Life' is all games

From GSN, the creative minds who brought us such enduring game classics as Kim Jong-Il: Missile Maniac, Rosie vs. Trump and Foley's Follies, comes The Prison Life: Paris, which offers players a behind-the-bars peek at the hotel heiress' life in the clink.

Orange is the new pink in this online title, in which an animated Hilton in stiletto heels, designer sunglasses and an orange jumpsuit attempts to undertake her prison duties under the watchful eye of a baton-wielding warden. "Paris is in jail and the warden has assigned her to design and build license plates. Help her with … Read more

Paris 2.0: An online plea for sympathy

Oh, goodness.

Paris Hilton, socialite, sometimes actress, singer and heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune, is using the Web to dig up a get-out-of-jail-free card.

PC World reports that a link to this online petition has been posted to her MySpace page. The petition urges California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon the socialite, who was recently sentenced to 45 days in jail for driving with a suspended license. She has been ordered to report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., on June 5.

It's not clear who the source of the petition is, and to describe … Read more

Another DS Lite gets stoned

We don't know if Paris Hilton had anything to do with this, but we wouldn't be surprised. Nintendo was apparently so enthralled with her Swarovski puppy design that it's decided to extend the frightful concept to other DS Lite models, tarring the image of the venerable brothers Mario among other characters. Luxurylaunches reports that each of the custom items, on display at the Nintendo World store in Manhattan, is covered with $600 of the infernal stones. The good news: They're not for sale.

A car cam for Paris Hilton?

It's official: Crave has a link to Paris Hilton. A couple of weeks ago we panned the idea of this car-board black box device for any number of reasons. But today we read on GeekSugar that Kathy and Rick Hilton expressed interest in the Gadget Universe product for their ubiquitous daughter to keep tabs on paparazzi and other media hounds. We're not sure what to make of this latest development, but we do agree with GeekSugar's trenchant observation: "Personally I wonder if Paris really needs any more cameras around her than she already has."

DS Lite falls victim to Swarovski

At this rate, our well-documented paranoia over eggs will soon be eclipsed by fears of Swarovski crystals taking over the world.

The latest victim: The Nintendo DS Lite. Gadget Candy reports that a version of the gaming device encrusted with 1,200 stones--all pink, no less--has been spotted at the Multipazz boutique in London for 200 pounds (that's nearly $400, for those of us who don't get out much). The kicker? It was apparently designed by none other than Paris Hilton herself, which would explain the dog.

A USB stocking stuffer for just $19,000

Even if the "Mottainai" bronze USB drive were real gold, it would still pale in comparison to the "Snow" drive. This 4GB storage device has a case made of 18k white gold and trimmed with 96 diamonds totaling 1.44 carats, according to Ubergizmo, and at current market prices that adds up to nearly $19,000. But according to Mii Stor--which offers "a unique range of USB jewelry accessories" (ya think?)--a platinum "Ice" model is on the way with 350 diamonds totaling 5.8 carats. So start saving now.
