2008 Cadillac CTS first look

Cadillac's efforts to reposition its brand extend to the cabin electronics in the update to the Cadillac CTS, with a new infotainment system that outstrips the competition. We've seen live traffic integration and a music server on the Lexus LS 460, but Cadillac introduces both features on its lowest-end model, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. This second burst from Cadillac's next-generation salvo takes the bold "Art and Science" design and makes it fit better with the sport-luxury segment on which the company has set its sights.

The bold edges of the original CTS remain, making the … Read more

CTS equals Cadillac Technical Superiority

Cadillac gave us a little hint of the cabin gadgets available in its 2008 Cadillac CTS. And from what we've heard, we can't wait to see it in action. We saw the new CTS at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, but Cadillac didn't have the full story on its tech features there. The Cadillac designers focused on making the navigation and entertainment interface usable and seamless. The maps will have a 3D aspect and will show traffic and weather. The stereo gets a hard drive for music storage, and the radio includes a pause feature. We don'… Read more

The Cadillac of pickup trucks

It's difficult to imagine what customer segment the designers at GM had in mind when they came up with the idea of the Cadillac Escalade EXT. The 2007 model that just arrived into the CNET Car Tech garage boasts a dazzling array of tech features: heated and cooled front seats, a factory-installed DVD player, DVD-based touch-screen navigation, as-standard XM Satellite radio playing through an eight-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system and...an 8-foot cargo bed.

With all-wheel drive and a monstrous 6.2-liter engine, the EXT could theoretically be used to haul around stacks of 50-gallon drums or to tow … Read more

GM's high-tech key fob gives drivers real remote control

Cadillac Escalade owners will soon have an extra piece of tech bling with which to wow their homies. According to USA Today, GM is planning to introduce a new remote-control key fob next April that will allow Escalade drivers to change their cars' radio-station settings, check the fuel-tank level and tire pressure, and remind themselves whether they locked the doors or not. The device will feature a built-in LCD display and is designed to operate at four-to-six times the distance of other remote access systems, according to GM. The technofob will be offered on the Escalade and a range of … Read more

First Look: 2007 Cadillac SRX

Following our reviews of DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes R350 and Chrysler Pacifica, we just got hold of Cadillac's offering in the SUV/station wagon/minivan segment, the SRX. We just took receipt of a gleaming, fully-loaded silver review model this afternoon, and lost no time taking it for a quick spin around the sunny streets of San Francisco. Inside, the SRX has many of the upscale appointments of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade we reviewed earlier this year: leather and burled-wood trim; touch-screen navigation; and CD/MP3/WMA/DVD in-dash multimedia head unit with auxiliary input jack. A couple of the … Read more
