Two of the flashiest colors among Apple's new iPhones also have been the least popular, according to a new consumer study.
The gold iPhone 5S and the yellow iPhone 5C made up the smallest number of sales compared with Apple's other device colors during the past month of sales. That's according to a study of early buyers polled by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).
New research published by the research firm on Wednesday suggests 43 percent of iPhone 5S buyers went with Apple's space gray color, with another 30 percent going with silver. It was a … Read more
The iPhone 5 is still the king of the iPhones, but activations of the 5S and 5C continue to grow.
The 5S now accounts for 3.8 percent of all iPhone activations across the world, while the 5C has carved out 1.7 percent, mobile analytics firm Localytics said on Monday. The overall 5.5 percent is a hefty rise from the less than 1 percent seen by Localytics following the opening day weekend for the two phones. The iPhone 5 is on top with almost 40 percent of all iPhone activations, but it's had more than a year … Read more
OptoFidelity said that it used its own Touch Panel Performance Tester to measure the iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, and Samsung Galaxy S3. The device uses a robot to "touch" exact coordinates on a screen. It then measures the coordinates of the touch device to see how closely they matched.

The iPhone 5S is now playing even harder to get.
Over the past three weeks, availability of the new high-end iPhone has dropped to less than 5 percent of all iPhone models, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said in an investor note released Friday. That contrasts with the 6 percent availability previously cited by the analyst for the week ending October 11.
Following the launch of the 5S on September 20, the new model accounted for 27 percent of all iPhones in stock, Munster said. But that number plummeted as consumer demand shot up.

Apple's iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S might have some trouble gaining traction in Russia, a new report claims.
Speaking to Bloomberg in an interview on Friday, IDC analyst Simon Baker said that "if Apple really wants to compete with Samsung [in Russia], it should've come up with a much lower price for the 5C." According to Baker, Apple is selling the iPhone 5C for $800 in Russia, while the iPhone 5S retails for about $960.
Unlike in the US and many other countries around the world, Russia strictly forbids carriers from offering subsidies on smartphones. So … Read more
You know those friends who borrow things and never give them back?
Well, Apple was accused last week of taking a New York filmmaker's movie about people waiting in line to buy the iPhone 5S; chopping it about a bit; changing the music; and showing it to its staff.
Oh, and as The New York Times reported it, the filmmaker's credit was removed.
Well, it wasn't his film anymore, was it?
The iPhone 5S was available for only 10 days in September, yet it still outscored Samsung's Galaxy S4 in US sales, says a new report.
Overall, Apple sold 4.8 million iPhones last month, according to Counterpoint Research data obtained by the Guardian. That number gave it a 38 percent share of the US smartphone market for September and pushed Samsung to second place after being on top since May.
The 5S snagged the No. 1 spot, followed by the Galaxy S4. The 5C has been overshadowed by its more robust cousin, yet it still managed to take home … Read more
