When Google provided Glass Explorers with the option to invite three friends to join the program, many users were very excited, and rightfully so. This time around Google isn't requiring new Explorers to make the journey to pick up Glass, where they would have received a hands-on demo of the headset. Instead Google is shipping Glass directly to the nominated Explorers and offering a 45-minute tutorial session through a Google+ Hangout.
Without the hands-on time with a Glass Guide sitting next to you, there are sure to be some questions after the Hangout is over. Below are five … Read more
Gmail is Google's default e-mail app, which means it matches most e-mail apps in terms of features, style, and organization. There's a reason it's the default on most Android gadgets. If your smartphone or tablet didn't come with it installed, there aren't many excuses to not have it, especially if you already have a Gmail address.
With Gmail you can organize multiple inboxes into one while adjusting categories, signatures, and notification sounds for each of them, separately. If you have Android 4.0 or higher, you can use Gmail's latest inbox settings, which organizes … Read more
Gmail users now can view attachments and save files directly to Google Drive without ever leaving their e-mail, Google announced in a blog post Tuesday.
Instead of downloading attachments, Gmail users can save files directly to Drive by clicking on the Drive button that appears when hovering over attachment previews at the bottom of an e-mail. Users even can move the file to a specific Drive folder without ever leaving their e-mail. Of course, Gmail users still can download attachments to their computers by clicking the arrow button that appears when hovering over files.

Apple has issued an update for its Mail e-mail client program in OS X Mavericks. The update addresses a number of outstanding bugs that have been affecting users who have installed the new OS, specifically involving managing messages in Gmail accounts. Now, you can set up handwriting input within Gmail, along with onscreen keyboards for other languages.
Whether it's something you need, or something you just want to try, it's quick to set up. Here's … Read more
I used to be more vigilant about keeping my Gmail inbox clean and organized, but the inbox tabs that Gmail rolled out earlier this year have made me lazy. The tabs help filter promotional e-mails, social media notifications, and other such messages that aren't of primary importance. While these e-mails are effectively hidden with Gmail's Web client, they are still marked as unread on my iPhone. That is, my Mail app icon constantly has a badge alert with a large number because of the voluminous number of unread messages I have hiding in my Social and Promotional tabs. … Read more

Yahoo Mail's latest revamp isn't scoring a lot of points with users.
To celebrate Yahoo Mail's 16th birthday last week, Yahoo overhauled the interface of its e-mail service, offering a leaner look reminiscent of Gmail. But the new style and missing features have triggered a slew of angry comments on the Yahoo Mail blog and even a Change.org petition asking Yahoo to revert back to the old layout.
Tops on the hit list is Yahoo's decision to remove tabs, which allowed people to switch among different views. Users also want the ability to "sort … Read more
