Getting analog A/V ports to work on DirecTV HD DVR

When I had a standard 4/3 DirecTV DVR, I could easily xfer anything on the DVR to my computer by taking the analog A/V signals from the DVR, running them through the A-D converter in my camcorder and inputing that signal to my computer, saving the result as an .avi file. Later I could use editing s/w on the computer to end up with a "movie" that I wanted.

I tried doing that today using my HD DVR but can not get any signal from the A/V component outputs. Anyone know how to kick start the component output on the back of a DirecTV DVR?

And he says the HD units only put out the signal if the HDMI cables are unplugged and you run it to the old TV.

Be sure to call it in if you must.

DirecTV HD DVR

Have not tried this for a while but with my HD DVD, and HR20 I believe (Something like that) I put a call into DTV to see if it was possible.

They confirmed that ALL the output ports were active at the same time.

My route was the same as yours, DVR to A-D Convertor to Computer. (a Mac). Worked a treat.

Maybe the newer HD DVR units work differently.

Hi, try unplugging the HD cable and use RCA cables, box should reboot to your new feed. you may have to go to menu and set up the dislplay to480p. That don't work something is set wrong on DVR or Display settings. LUCK
