Resizing in email

I was once told how to keep the same hight to width ratio when resizing a picture in e-mail, but I can't remember how. I think there is a Key you have to press. Please someone tell me.
I use Windows XP and OE

I right click on the image, properties and see if it has that in some box to check or uncheck.
