How to connect TV to internet?

HI guys

Currently we have only 1 TV in the house and I have my old laptop running directly to it. (The TV is acting like a monitor).

We do not have any cable services, nor do we want to buy one.

My girlfriend wants to get a small TV for the bedroom.

I know there are some TVs that connect to the internet but I dont know how well they work
would it be possible to get one that would connect to my wifi and be able to get all content from the web like I currently do with my laptop/computer system?

Would we be able to watch netflix and browse the internet on such a TV

All browsers so far in the smart TVs are a shadow of what you can do on a PC. Yes, you can get Netflix but some folk complain it's not the same feature set as on the PC.

Yes, you can connect, but tone down your expectations.

As Bob Proffitt alluded, sounds pretty limiting. What you could do, unless you have, for something simple, download HULU this would give you something simple and free, still a bit limited.

HULU made a decision to force HULU Plus on devices such as the TV, tablets and such. No HULU.

Wow I wasn't aware of that, even if you use something such as a ROKU? Seems as if everyone has a "GOTCHA" one way or another.

No real HULU on ROKU. It's Hulu Plus.

I thought I wrote it clearly. I'll repeat it again.

HULU is for PCs and Apple computers ONLY. Everything else is Hulu Plus.

There may be hacks but they rarely work for long.

I don't know if this will help you but there are some pretty reliable AV transmitter/reciever products out there that will let you "broadcast" what your laptop is displaying. The second part is there are several remote control apps for smartphones that will allow you to control your laptop from your phone. Then you could control your laptop from your bedroom.
Just another way of skinnin' the ol' cat.
